Igor Oleynikov (1953) estudou no Instituto de Engenharia Química de Moscou. Em 1979 começou a trabalhar no estúdio de animação russo, Sojusmultfilm. Desde 1986, Igor trabalha como ilustrador de revistas infantis e na publicação de livros. O artista trabalha com igual sucesso em animação.
